India produced an estimated 263 million tonnes of food last year, of which 33 million tons was excess output

A survey shows that annually, Bangalore alone wastes 943 tonnes of quality food during weddings. “This is enough to feed 2.6 crore people a normal Indian meal.

How magical it would be if you could give away your leftover food to underprivileged over an online platform” Would you care to feed the poor if you can do it right from your doorstep?

Leftover is an enterprise that intent to address the need for battling against hunger among less opportune and destitute by introducing a unique solution. Our unique solution is an initiative where the leftover food is provided to needy instead of being wasted in any form.

We realize that while a major chunk of the society is able to feed themselves and their households, a minor chunk of the society is not. However this is also observed that the major chunk more often than not cook surplus which can be delivered to the minor chunk. Hence we set out to pick up the leftover food from a willing donor and deliver it to the hungry.

We wish to become a bridge and play a catalyst in setting the new trend which is a solution to a very basic need hereby also managing the food waste.

Leftover.in aims to create a concrete network of voluneetrs also by enbaling them with our technological platform so that they can be well informed about food doner and donee and connect them.

We endeavor to use full scale technical capabilities to execute and achieve above mentioned goals to and to introduce a solid incentive structure to this.

India is home to a third of the world’s poor and where 48 per cent children are malnourished.

in 2013, 20 crore Indians will sleep hungry each night According to a survey by bhook (an organization working towards reducing hunger)

The urban Indian is increasingly wasting more food over the years as About 20% of what we buy in urban India ends up being thrown away.and recently contributing to about 35% of all food wasted in India

Such issue can be downsized when individuals are participating to fight back regularly

We often cook or buy surplus food, yet unable to share it due to factors such as:

  1. Odd timing availability of a food donor and unavailability of food donee
  2. We can not reach out to food donee very often considering the limited shelf-life of cooked food
  3. Security concerns in late evening if we go out and share the food

How will we notify about leftover food ?

If you will come across any edible leftover food at your home/restaurant then you can sign-up and notify about this on our website , so that our nearest available volunteer may collect it from you or let you know about a neighborhood underprivillaged.

Who can become your volunteer and how ?

An individual, Group of people, NGO or private firm can become our volunteer by signings up at our website which will follow a small verification process and you can start working.

This problem is serious, How would you make a difference ?

We aim to create a solid network of volunteer and back it up with a fair incentive model so that all participant can get recognition, credit and rewards. We plan to do it with latest technology available and also want to shout out loud about this.
